Meet our Youth Board
Jamie Morrison - Chair
Jamie is the chair of the Youth Board and attends Sanquhar Academy. He has been a member of A’the Airts for the past eight years and was involved in the Youth Theatre for several years as well. Jamie participates in digital music sessions at the Centre. Jamie has recently been featured in the Holywood Trust exhibition,‘Our Region’. One of only four people from Dumfries and Galloway.As a passionate local young man, Jamie is dedicated to the Centre. He is also a guitarist and plays in his band, Out of Focus. When he leaves school, Jamie hopes to become an archaeologist. We are very proud to have him as the chair of our Youth Board.
Payton has been coming to A’ the Airts for the past eight years. She is a passionate actor and performer and has been an active member of the Youth Theatre during this time. In addition to her involvement in the theatre, Peyton also enjoys photography and film and runs her own YouTube channel called "Payton Edits."
One of her key roles on the Youth Board involves taking photographs of events and helping to publicise the board's activities. She is a valuable asset to the Centre, and we are very proud of all her accomplishments.
Colesha Tulawase - Trustee
Colesha was previously a talented chorister at Carlisle Cathedral before moving to Sanquhar. She became involved with the Youth Theatre at A’the Arts and is also a board member of the Youth Board. Colesha is very enthusiastic about contributing to her community; she is a passionate singer and dancer. She is happy to have joined the Youth Board as it helps her get to know the community she lives in better.
Edward Ryan - Vice Chair
Edward is an award-winning young filmmaker who lives in Sanquhar. He won the Into Film Festival Award for his film about autism, titled "More Than One Way to Go Home." Edward has been a member of the Youth Theatre at A’ the Airts for the past eight years and has showcased many of his short films at the Centre. Additionally, he is a member of our Digital Music Club. He plays keyboards for the band "Out of Focus." Edward has expressed his desire to give back to an organisation that has given him so much, which is why he wanted to join the Youth Board. We very much value Edward as our Vice Chair.
Payton I’Anson - Trustee
Isaac Willison - Treasurer
Isaac serves as the treasurer for the Youth Board and has been an active member at the Centre for the past eight years. He has a strong passion for history, which he enjoys reading and learning about. In addition to his interest in history, Isaac is a drummer and loves music. His younger sister, Arwyn, is also a member of our Youth Theatre.
Alistair Innis - Trustee
Alistair is a very talented piano player and can also play the guitar. He has been coming to The Centre since he was five years old and is also a member of the police cadets. Additionally, Alistair is a skilled artist and currently attends Wallace Hall Academy. He recently moved to Dumfries from Sanquhar. Alistair brings great skills to the Youth Board and is known for being very organised.
Amilia Wark - Trustee
Amilia is a champion Highland dancer who has won many awards for her skill. She is also a member of the Youth Theatre at A’ the Arts. Her role on the board is to provide feedback to the main board about the activities that the Youth Board has accomplished. Additionally, Amilia is an excellent singer and recently won the National Burns Competition. She is a confident public speaker, and it is great to have such an accomplished young person on our Youth Board.
Faith Black - Trustee
Faith is a talented young scientist who is part of her school’s Stem club. Recently, she won an engineering award for one of her designs, and she hopes to pursue a career in design and engineering after leaving school. In addition to her scientific achievements, Faith is also a skilled pianist and has performed at the Centre. She has been a member of our Youth Theatre for several years, appearing in many productions. Faith was eager to join the Youth Board to give back to the community in which she lives. Faith is an asset to the Youth Board.
Beth Syme - Trustee
Beth loves playing the guitar and is also a very talented singer. She enjoys performing and has been a member of our Youth Theatre for several years, taking part in many productions. Beth has performed solo singing at the Centre, often leaving the audience in tears with her beautiful voice. She has been a member of the Youth Board since its inception and has assisted with several events. We are so pleased to have Beth as a member of the Youth Board.
Lewis Mullen - Trustee
Lewis attends Sanquhar Academy and wants to join the Youth Board at the Centre to give back to the community. He recently won the My Place Award in Glasgow for his photography. Lewis also has a passion for digital music and enjoys creating it at home. Although he briefly participated in our Youth Theatre and showed promise as an actor, he decided that acting wasn't quite for him. We are delighted to have Lewis on our Youth Board, as he is an excellent ambassador for Sanquhar
Callum Brock - Trustee
Callum lives in Kelloholm and is a passionate musician, specifically a drummer, in the band called Out of Focus. He enjoys getting involved in various community activities. Having Callum on the Youth Board is beneficial because it gives the Kelloholm community a voice at the Centre. He is quietly confident in his contributions and is a great addition to the Board.
